Why HODAG

Why I started HODAG

I started HODAG because I wanted to offer good, capable equipment at a fair price and stand behind it personally. My plan is simple: provide good equipment, real help when customers need it, a straightforward one-year warranty, and build the business through satisfied customers and word of mouth.

HODAG is starting small and growing carefully. I inspect and test every machine, drawing on more than 30 years of manufacturing and quality-control experience. I’m not a mechanic, and I won’t pretend to be one. If a customer has a problem, I’ll help work through it, involve the right technical resources, and stay engaged until we find a practical solution.

Attachments

Attachments we've tested

A loader is only as useful as what's on the end of it. We only list attachments we've tested or currently offer — evaluated for fit, hydraulic compatibility, and how they actually perform.

General-purpose bucket

The everyday workhorse — dirt, gravel, material handling, and cleanup.

4-in-1 bucket

Dig, grade, doze, and grab. One bucket that earns its keep across jobs.

Forestry mulcher

Clear brush, saplings, and overgrowth on acreage and property lines. Requires the safety windshield.

Under evaluation

We may add more attachments once we've tested them. These aren't offered yet — no specs, performance claims, or pricing until they've earned it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the machine, where it comes from, and what to expect after the sale.

Where are HODAG machines manufactured?

The Dagger TRX1100 platform is manufactured in China and powered by a genuine Kubota D1105 diesel engine. HODAG imports the machine, selects the configuration, inspects and tests every unit before sale, and supports customers locally in Western Wisconsin.

Is the TRX1100 just another inexpensive machine sold online?

No. Similar-looking machines can be purchased online, but the purchasing experience is very different.

With HODAG, the machine is already here. It has been inspected, tested, and prepared before it is offered for sale. You can see it operate, ask questions, and work with someone local if you need help later.

You may find similar-looking machines online. The difference with HODAG is that the machine is already here, configured, inspected, tested, and supported by someone local.

Why not import one directly myself?

You can, but importing equipment involves more than the advertised purchase price. Buyers may need to manage international payment, freight, customs, port handling, inland transportation, assembly, damage claims, missing parts, and communication across time zones.

HODAG already has the factory relationship and takes on all of that before the machine reaches the customer.

Are HODAG machines reliable?

HODAG is new, so we do not yet claim years of customer field history. I selected the TRX1100 after extensive research and hands-on use because it has performed well, uses a proven Kubota diesel engine, and has a straightforward mechanical design. Every machine is inspected and tested before sale, and HODAG provides a one-year limited parts warranty.

Does the TRX1100 use a real Kubota engine?

Yes. The TRX1100 is powered by a genuine Kubota three-cylinder diesel engine.

Kubota engines are widely used throughout the compact-equipment industry because of their durability, serviceability, and parts availability.

What inspection does each machine receive?

Every HODAG machine is inspected and function-tested before delivery. The inspection covers major operating systems, hydraulics, controls, fluid levels, fittings, fasteners, safety functions, tracks, and attachment operation.

What happens if something breaks?

Call HODAG.

I’ll help work through the issue, coordinate with the manufacturer or a qualified technician when needed, identify the correct part, and stay involved until we have a practical repair plan.

Are replacement parts available?

Yes. HODAG works directly with the manufacturer to obtain machine-specific replacement parts.

Common maintenance components such as filters, fluids, hoses, fittings, bearings, and many engine-related parts can also be sourced through established North American suppliers. HODAG is continuing to build its local inventory of common service and wear items.

Is there a warranty?

Yes — every new HODAG machine includes a one-year limited parts warranty covering qualifying defects in materials and workmanship. Labor, transportation, and on-site travel are not included. Complete written terms are provided before purchase.

Can I get service at a local Kubota dealer?

The engine is manufactured by Kubota, but the TRX1100 itself is not a Kubota-branded machine. A Kubota engine dealer may be able to provide engine-related service or parts, but individual dealers determine what equipment they will work on.

HODAG should remain your first call for machine-related questions.

Does it use standard mini skid-steer attachments?

The TRX1100 uses a common mini-skid-steer quick-attach interface and is compatible with many compact attachments. Mounting fit, hydraulic flow, hose connections, attachment weight and operating compatibility must be confirmed before use.

Can it operate a forestry mulcher?

Yes. The TRX1100 can be configured with a compatible forestry mulcher.

A protective polycarbonate windshield is required when operating the mulcher. Mulching performance will depend on the material being cut, operator technique, attachment setup, and hydraulic requirements.

Who is the TRX1100 designed for?

The TRX1100 is a strong fit for:

  • Acreage and rural property owners
  • Farmers and hobby farmers
  • Landscapers
  • Tree and land-management contractors
  • Rental businesses
  • Small construction contractors
  • Buyers who need commercial capability without major-brand pricing

It may not be the right machine for a high-hour fleet that requires a nationwide dealer network. HODAG will be honest about where the machine fits and where it does not.

Why does it cost less than machines from major brands?

Major equipment brands carry substantial dealer-network, financing, marketing, corporate, and overhead costs. Those brands also offer broader service networks and established resale markets.

HODAG operates with a smaller, direct-sales model. The goal is not to pretend those differences do not exist. The goal is to offer a capable machine, local support, and strong value at a significantly lower purchase price.

Can I see or operate the machine before purchasing?

Yes. Prospective buyers are encouraged to inspect the TRX1100 and see it operate before making a decision.

We would rather have an informed customer than pressure someone into buying a machine that does not fit their needs.

Is HODAG an established national equipment company?

No. HODAG Equipment is a small Western Wisconsin equipment business.

We are building the company carefully, testing the equipment ourselves, listening to customers, and adding products only after we are comfortable offering them. We are not trying to appear larger or more established than we are.

What we can offer is direct communication, practical experience with the machine, and personal accountability after the sale.
